day two was actually very settling for me.
i brought in firewood for my dad's shop. there's a cold and wet front coming through so he needed to make sure he was well stocked. me, being unemployed, had nothing else going on.
i like bringing in wood. i like stacking it. i get pleasure out of knowing that the muddy, wet wood i brought in is drying out fast in front of dad's stove. it makes me feel useful.
so that was good. and since dad has a whole lot of firewood, i asked him if i could rick it up on pallets so it would dry better while still in the elements. he's working on getting some good pallets so i can start my project.
the wood project makes me realize a couple of things:
1. i'm much softer on the hands and around the waist than i used to be and
2. i need to stack some more wood so my belly will shrink.
poetic and prophetic, i know.
day three was less constructive. you probably don't want to hear about it. i went to lexington, saw my best friends and a friend i hadn't seen in years and had a merry time singing and dancing. i sang so hard my vocal cords still hurt. and every now and then, that's not so bad.

How's Day Six treating you? I have to admit I'm somewhat jealous of Day Three. Have your vocal chords recovered? Midland, is well,... Midland. I got assaulted by my snowball-wielding 16-year-old cousin yesterday and briefly wore a yellow bonnet. Oh, yeah, and had some magic shell on Saturday... Very important detail. Later J.O.!
