testing, testing...

today was the first trial run of the alien bee light kit. the district basketball tourney is coming up so i decided to give them a test run before next week.

i bounced off the ceiling and shot direct. i'm still trying to decide which way i like best. coury says bouncing, i kind of like direct.

any thoughts?

also here is a random cat that lives in my dad's shop and eats all the cat food. i don't know his name. he moved before i could get the picture i wanted.

according to some pals of mine - the top is better if the focus is showing the basketball game and the bottom is better if the focus is on the individual

I have to say I like a little bit of ambient when I light basketball. Bounce v. no bounce makes little difference to me. It's the balance between background and subject, I like about a stop and half or two stops. Therefore, the top one rocks my world. Have you noticed the LCD on your mark II being off. When stuff looks exposed right on mine, it's at least half a stop under when I get it on ANY computer screen. Mostly a problem when using off-camera, non-dedicated flash. I think I might just have to lower the brightness on my screen. Anyway, miss you man, hope you're loving the freelance. I still have a list of about a dozen ideas for you, tips and tricks. I was holding out for a visit, but since you're sexy ass is all busy now, I might just have to shoot you an email. Catch ya later,
